The Stateman
“The strengthening of the Arab League is one of our utmost duties, because it represents the will and interests of the Arab nations, and it will only be strong by the true unity of it member states.”
A saying of King Saud in one of his speeches.
Foreign Policy
King Saud played a role of greatest importance on the regional, Arab, Islamic and international level. His eminent place in the Islamic world, and his strength of character, qualified him to succeed in many of his endeavors to enforce and strengthen relations with other states.
Arab and Islamic Foreign Policy
In matters of foreign policy, recognising the great importance and political advantages of having Islam’s two most holy shrines within the confines of his realm bestowed on him, King Saud took his role as their servitor and custodian most seriously, just as he did his obligations as an Arab potentate to the Arab people. He also strictly adhered to the principle of non-involvement in the affairs of others, unless invited.
Main Achievements of King Saud (1953- 1964)
Saud followed his father's approach. His father, late King Abdul-Aziz had a traditional conservative personality impregnated with the values and practical theories which he learned in his education and which were prevailing during his reign among his people.
